| On June 28, 1969, the NYPD raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular Gay Bar in Greenwich Village. Patrons and supportive community members fought the police and filled the streets for several days to protest the inhumane treatment. Other protests erupted across the country in support of the LGBTQ+ community. |
